Habitoscopy (portrait) examination

To continue the topic of the striking resemblance noticed by people, we have decided to order a portrait examination. At the last moment we were advised to add to examined materials the mysterious painting by Anastasia Novykh Agapit of Pechersk, which was exhibited for the public only once in its lifetime. The current location of the painting is unknown.

Materials used for examination:

1.  Digital portrait photo of Igor Danilov

2.  Digital photo of Agapit of Pecherk painting by Anastasia Novykh

3.  Digital photo of the bust of Agapit of Pechersk (reconstructed according to the skull model made by criminology expert Sergey Nikitin)

 

What was to be ascertained during examination:

1.   Are the provided photo files suitable for habitoscopy (portrait) examination?    

2.   Which individual features of Igor Danilov’s appearance are reflected (depicted) on and coincide with the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the painting by the artist Anastasia Novykh and the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the bust reconstructed according to the skull model made by criminology expert Sergey Nikitin?

 

EXAMINATION:

 

The objects of examination have been presented in photo files.

What has been examined: photo files with Igor Danilov’s appearance, the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the painting by Anastasia Novykh and the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the bust reconstructed according to the skull model made by Sergey Nikitin.

What has been ascertained during preliminary examination of the photo files depicting Igor Danilov’s appearance, the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the painting by Anastasia Novykh and the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the bust reconstructed according to the skull model made by Sergey Nikitin, as provided for comparative examination of appearances: taking into account the good quality of the digital photos, the comparable conditions of photography and the results of preliminary comparison of the three appearances, the examined photos of Igor Danilov’s appearance, the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the painting by Anastasia Novykh and the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the bust reconstructed according to the skull model made by Sergey Nikitin, as provided in photo files for comparative examination, may be acknowledged suitable for habitoscopy (portrait) examination.

In order to perform subsequent examination of Igor Danilov’s appearance, the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the painting by Anastasia Novykh and the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the bust reconstructed according to the skull model made by Sergey Nikitin, as provided for comparative examination, single-scale photographic reproductions of the three appearances have been made. The initial value for unification of the scale of the three examined appearances has been the distance between the pupillary points (16 mm).

Visual comparative examination of the features of Igor Danilov’s appearance, the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the painting by Anastasia Novykh and the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the bust reconstructed according to the skull model made by Sergey Nikitin, as depicted in the provided photo files, has indicated that the following features of the images of Agapit of Pechersk are reflected in and coincide with corresponding individual features of Igor Danilov’s appearance, namely: 

- brows shape, contour and length;
- eyes shape (eye slit length / extent and eye contour);
- opening width of the eye slit;
- buccal hollows;
- nose width, contours of the nose tip and nasal alas;
- moustache and beard shape;
- lower lip contours;
- chin contours (see images below).

 

 

 

 

Comparative examination of the head and face external anatomy of the three appearances have been carried out using the following methods:

- Visual comparison of relevant features;

- Application of masks;

- Superposition;

- Application of a coordinate grid;

- Comparison of appearance elements and features in terms of biological asymmetry;

- Comparison of respective values of appearance elements and features;

- Matching of appearance elements and features by the straight (medial) and broken lines.

The identified individual features of Igor Danilov’s appearance coincide with the individual features of the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the painting by Anastasia Novykh and the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the bust reconstructed according to the skull model made by Sergey Nikitin.

 

CONCLUSIONS:

 

  1. The photo files provided for habitoscopy (portrait) examination are suitable for habitoscopy (portrait) examination.
  2. The identified individual features of Igor Danilov’s appearance coincide with the individual features of the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the painting by Anastasia Novykh and the image of Agapit of Pechersk on the bust reconstructed according to the skull model made by Sergey Nikitin.
