Catharsis is dictated, as a rule, by the inner need of a spiritually aspiring person to free himself, to get rid of the slavery of one or another pattern, from the fettering negative pressure of one's own consciousness, while the very fact of revealing, exposing a pattern or sin, has a powerful releasing effect. Under catharsis in the Christian tradition, one can also understand such a well-known and generally accepted concept as repentance, voluntary recognition in a perfect error, which necessarily carries with it an inner sense of spiritual freedom.
