Many of you certainly attend churches, temples or houses of prayer, and believe in Single God. For sure, many of you respectfully treat the great woman depicted on numerous icons and images, revered in various religions and denominations, and named Mary. Unfortunately, today we know almost nothing about who this woman was and what was her destiny; and hardly many people have an idea of the true essence and meaning of her superior spiritual feat.
We have already dedicated a number of articles and analytical publications to her in the Holy Mother of God (Virgin Mary) section, and today we would like to post a new series of photos clearly showing that in Christian images and icons of Virgin Mary the sign consisting of a circle and a crescent is widely present – the sign that is already familiar to many readers as the AllatRa sign (more details about it may be found in our relevant analytical material).
So, let’s look at the icons below where I've somewhat highlighted circle and crescent contours for better visualisation. At that, let’s recall an identical sign was over the head of goddess Isis (see image at the right), whose cult lasted for many centuries in the human society, and people highly revered this goddess in many lands. Likewise, in Christianity Virgin Mary, the Most Holy Mother of God has been the bearer of the circle-crescent symbolic combination which is still depicted on numerous icons and images of her. Owing to the AllatRa book, today we have an opportunity to get explanations of such depictions and gain a new rather logical understanding of relevant images.
While drawing of a circle as a nimbus is totally explicable from a religious perspective, it’s hard to explain what internally inspired icon painters to work the crescent symbol into such elements as garment pleats, chalices, clouds, wings, or spread out arms (though all this rather relates to the symbol of spiritual liberation which we will certainly soon write about). Thus, taking this occasion, I would like to express sincere gratitude to those talented people who once managed to find a way to carry through millennia the creating power originating from God and embodied in this working sign. I am confident we still have plenty of discoveries to make in the field of physics to understand the meaning of the sign and the way it works. Well, for those who consider our reasoning and evidence not persuasive enough I have nothing to tell anymore.
Finally, let me kindly ask our non-indifferent readers to mail (or leave as comments below) other icons and images you might find, where a circle-crescent combination is manifested, for we intend to supplement this marvellous image gallery further.
The image gallery is being supplemented...
